A compensation payment has been made to Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).

The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa to make claims against it.

Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa.

On 28 March 2024, $17,079.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa.

The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Any person who has been a victim of Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa, in respect of an offence for which Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Pako Ruben Paparoa; Ruben Freeman Paparoa; Pako Paparoa.

Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
