Notice of Application to Register a Trade Name Product (Notice No. MPI 1819)

Notice is given under section 14(1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (“Act”), of the following application to register a trade name product under section 9(1) of the Act:

Trade Name: Scorpius Attack Spot-on

Reference: A012078

Active Ingredients and Concentrations:

15g/L Abamectin and 26g/L Levamisole

Formulation Type: Non-Aqueous Solution

Application method/administration route:

For topical application only. 1ml per 2.5kg live-weight (6mg/kg abamectin and 10mg/kg levamisole).

ADMINISTER DIRECTLY ONTO THE SKIN ON THE BACKLINE.

Off-shears and within 2 weeks of shearing apply with a drench gun nozzle as a single 200–300mm midline stripe down the backbone in the middle of the back. If greater than 2 weeks after shearing apply as two spots along the backbone in the middle of the back.

Use Claim:

For the treatment and control in crossbred sheep of susceptible gastrointestinal roundworms and lungworm, including strains with single or dual resistance to macrocyclic lactones and levamisole.
Scorpius Attack Spot-on contains two broad-spectrum anthelmintics – abamectin and levamisole and is recommended for use against susceptible strains of the following sheep parasites:

Gastrointestinal roundworms: Barber’s Pole Worm: Haemonchus contortus*, Small Brown Stomach Worm: Teladorsagia circumcincta*, Stomach Hair Worm: Trichostrongylus axei, Black Scour Worms: Trichostrongylus vitrinus T. colubriformis, Thread Worm: Strongyloides papillosis, Small Intestinal Worms: Cooperia *, Thin-Necked Intestinal Worms: Nematodirus filicollis N. spathiger, Large Bowel Worm: Oesophagostomum venulosum, Large-mouthed Bowel Worm: Chabertia ovina, Whipworm: Trichuris ovis, Lungworm: Dictyocaulus filaris.

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general concerning this application.

Under sections 16 and 17 of the Act, a written submission:

  1. must state in full the reasons for making the submission;
  2. may state any decision sought on that application; and
  3. must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of this notice.

Each submission must state the trade name product(s) to which it relates. Under section 18 of the Act, a copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant.
