Notice of Making of Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits Amendment 2023

In accordance with sections 152A(4) and 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998 (as these sections applied before 28 October 2021), notification is hereby given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2023 (“Rule”).

The objective of the Rule is to—

  1. remove the mandatory requirement to create speed management plans under the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2022 (Principal Rule); and
  2. allow the Minister to set deadlines for speed management planning; and
  3. revoke any existing deadlines set by the Agency under clause 3.6 of the Principal Rule; and
  4. remove any other existing deadlines for speed management planning in the Principal Rule.

The Rule comes into force on 15 December 2023.
