A compensation payment has been made to Shannon Anthony Michael Cross in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).
The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Shannon Anthony Michael Cross to make claims against it.
Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Shannon Anthony Michael Cross.
On 25 August 2021, $2,865.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Shannon Anthony Michael Cross.
The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Shannon Anthony Michael Cross until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
Any person who has been a victim of Shannon Anthony Michael Cross, in respect of an offence for which Shannon Anthony Michael Cross was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Shannon Anthony Michael Cross.
Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
