Take notice that, pursuant to part 2 (subpart 2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Michael Marino was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 18 September 2017, and the surplus was paid into the victims’ claims trust account on 26 September 2017 on behalf of Michael Marino to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

And that on 12 October 2017, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, 12 October 2017, Issue No. 104, Notice No. 2017-go5270, on 14 October 2017, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and on 12 October 2017 on the website of the Ministry of Justice, of the sum of money paid into the trust account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

Under section 48(4) of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the trust account on behalf of Michael Marino to a victim.
