Pursuant to section 170 of the Corrections Act 2004,
I, The Honourable Anne Merrilyn Tolley, Minister of Corrections, hereby give notice that on 25 January 2013,
the Chief Executive of the Department of Corrections and First Security Guard Services Limited ("First Security") entered into Variation (No. 2) to the Agreement for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom Custodial Services in the Northern Region ("security contract").
Variation (No. 2) was deemed effective from 25 January 2013.
In summary, Variation (No. 2) varied this security contract by obliging First Security to provide courtroom custodial services during jury trials in new jury trial courtrooms at the Whangarei District Court and the Auckland District Court.
The contract price is varied to take into account these additional courtroom custodial services.
Variation (No. 2) also recorded amendments to take into account certain changes in the operating environment, for example a clause addressing obligations relating to prisoners who may be pregnant or have other special requirements.
