Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 35.6(7)(a)(iii); 40A.33(2)(e); 40A.55(1), Appendix 3.3; 40D.13(2), Table 2; 40D.17(5), Table 5; 40D.37(1), Appendix 1; 40E, Appendix 3; 45.10(1)(a); 46.17(1)(a)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 35.6(7)(a)(iii) - Training and Examinations - Examination and Assessment Procedures - Examinations - Passes in oral and written exams shall be valid for engineering certificates of competency for 24 months
- 2 from Maritime Rule 40A.33(2)(e) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Machinery - Petrol inboard and outboard engines - Ship fitted with one outboard engine as main source of propulsion, if proceeding beyond enclosed waters, must have auxiliary engine of sufficient power to enable ship to return safely to port or a safe haven
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.55(1), Appendix 3.3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Fire Fighting Appliances - Owner and master of a ship must ensure fire appliances are provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 3 - Restricted limit ships
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40D.13(2), Table 2 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing Ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Weathertight doors - Height above deck of sills in doorways, companionways, superstructure and machinery casings exposed to weather and sea must be as given in Table 2
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40D.17(5), Table 5 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing Ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Ventilators - Height above deck of machinery space ventilator coamings must be acceptable to the surveyor and other ventilator coaming heights above deck must be in accordance with Table 5
- 2 from Maritime Rule 40D.37(1), Appendix 1 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing Ships - Life-saving appliances - Owner and the master of any ship must ensure that life saving appliances are provided in accordance
with the requirements of Appendix 1 - Rescue boats - Every ship of 24 metres or more in length must be provided with a rescue boat complying with Rule 42A.14, unless the ship is provided with a lifeboat, that fulfils the requirements for a rescue boat and is capable of being recovered after a rescue operation
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40E, Appendix 3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Sailing Ships - Firefighting Appliances - Ships of 24 metres or more in length - Fire pumps (1) and (2) - 2 engine or independently driven fire pumps
- 2 from Maritime Rule 45.10(1)(a) - Navigational Equipment - All ships to which SOLAS is applied - Radar installations - Two radar installations must be fitted for a ship of 10,000 gross tons or more
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length - Inspections - Hull and external fittings inspections below waterline with the ship out of water at intervals not exceeding two years
