Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989,
I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Mairehau High School Board
of Trustees because of the risks to the welfare and educational performance of the students at the school.
The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:
? All functions, powers and duties of the board to manage curriculum, teaching and assessment practice (whether statutory or otherwise); and
? all functions, powers and duties of the board to develop and implement policies and practices that maintain a safe environment for students (whether statutory or otherwise).
A limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:
? Ensuring areas for improvement identified in the current, and any future, Education Review Office reports are implemented.
This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.
