Pursuant to section 30ZA(1)(b) of the Land Transport Act 1998, and pursuant to an authority delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport, I, Jennifer Gail McIlroy, Manager Operational Development and Monitoring, hereby exempt drivers of the vehicles specified below from the requirement to maintain a logbook.
This exemption applies to drivers of heavy motor vehicles that require a Class 1 or 2 driver licence and are used to carry goods for hire or reward when the vehicle is:
? operated only within a 50 kilometre radius of the
vehicle operator’s usual business location; or
? driven within a 50 kilometre radius from a base of operations.
This exemption expires on 1 July 2009.
Note: “usual business location” and “base of operations” are terms defined in Part 2 of Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks 2007.

Explanation
This exemption applies to vehicles that have a gross laden weight of 3500kg to 6000kg. Land Transport New Zealand will make a copy of this notice available on its website.
An exemption from logbooks is not an exemption from
work-time limits.
