Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the board of trustees of Tamatea High School because of the risks to the welfare and educational performance of the students at the school.
The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:
- All functions, powers and duties of the board as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise);
- all functions, powers and duties of the board in relation to ensuring the recommendations contained in the current and any future Education Review Office reports are implemented;
- all functions, powers and duties of the board to ensure the development and implementation of policies and procedures that maintain a safe environment for students and staff that supports quality curriculum delivery; and
- all functions, powers and duties of the board to manage all communications with the media, communications within the school and between the school and its community (whether statutory or otherwise).
This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.
