Maternity Services Amendment Notice 2005

Pursuant to section 88 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000, the Crown issues the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title—(1) This notice is the Maternity Services Amendment Notice 2005.
(2) In this notice, the Maternity Services Notice, which
was published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 24 April 2002, No. 40, page 1101 and became effective from 1 July 2002, is called the “principal notice”.
2. Commencement—This notice comes into force on
16 December 2005.
3. New clause 1 of Part D substituted—Part D of
the principal notice is amended by revoking clause 1, and substituting the new clause 1 set out in the Schedule.
4. Transitional provision relating to implementation
of new clause 1 of Part D—(1) If the applicable date of service for a payment to an authorised practitioner occurs prior to 16 December 2005, clause 1 of Part D of the principal notice, as in force immediately before 16 December 2005, continues to apply to that payment.
(2) In this clause, unless the context otherwise requires:
date of service, in relation to a payment for the registration of a woman, is the date the woman signed the registration form;
date of service, in relation to a payment for a complete second trimester module, complete third trimester module, complete services following birth module, complete rural travel fee and additional home visits fee, is the last date of the period to which the module applies;
date of service, in relation to a payment of a partial second trimester module fee, partial third trimester module fee, partial services following birth module fee and partial rural travel fee, is either:
(a) for a first part module fee claim, the date on which the woman changed lead maternity carer on the registration form; or
(b) for a second part module fee claim, the last date of the period to which the module applies;
date of service, in relation to a payment for labour and birth, homebirth supplies services, birthing unit services, single service episodes and specialist services, is the date on which the service was provided to the woman.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice comes into force on 16 December 2005.
This notice amends the Maternity Services Notice by changing the prices payable for some of the maternity services covered by that notice and by making all prices G.S.T. exclusive. This notice also sets out the transitional arrangements for implementing those new prices. If the applicable date of service for a payment is before
16 December 2005, the old prices apply to the payment.
