Notice of Order for Suspension From Practice as a Barrister and Solicitor

In the matter of the Law Practitioners Act 1982
Pursuant to section 119 of the Law Practitioners Act 1982, notice is hereby given that on 23 May 2005, the
New Zealand Law Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal ordered as follows:
1. That John Lewis Mansfield, of Auckland, be suspended from practice as a barrister and solicitor for a period of two years and one month from 23 May 2005.
2. Pursuant to section 66 (1) (b) of the Law Practitioners Act 1982, the tribunal gives its sanction to the practitioner being permitted to act as a clerk in and about the business of G. R. Aislabie strictly upon
the conditions set out in the Reserved Reasons for the decision of the tribunal dated 30 June 2005.
3. If the practitioner seeks employment with any other solicitor he must first make a further application to the tribunal and obtain the tribunal’s sanction under section 66 (1) (b).
4. The practitioner must pay compensation of the amounts of $2,222.49, $545.79 and $522.83 (if still owing) to the complainants named in the order.
5. The practitioner pay the sum of $6,160.50 to the
New Zealand Law Society towards the costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the tribunal.
6. The practitioner pay costs to the Auckland District Law Society in the agreed sum of $16,592.46.
