Notice of the Revocation of an Exemption

This notice of the revocation of an exemption is issued by the Electricity Commission (“Commission”), continued under subpart 1 of Part 15 of the Electricity Act 1992, pursuant to Regulation 196 of the Electricity Governance Regulations 2003 (“Regulations”) in respect of the exemption granted in favour of Energy Clearing House Limited (Clearing Manager), generators and the HVDC owner, as those terms are defined in the Electricity Governance Rules 2003 (“Rules”) (together referred to as the “relevant parties”).
Notice of the Revocation of Exemption # 25 (“notice”)
Regulation 196 provides that an exemption may be varied
or revoked, either on application by a participant or on the initiative of the Commission.
The Commission hereby notifies that it is revoking the exemption granted to the relevant parties (Exemption # 25 published in the New Zealand Gazette, 31 March 2005, page 1509), exempting the relevant parties from the requirement to comply with the following Electricity Governance Rules 2003 (“Rules”):

Commission’s Reasons for the Revocation of Exemption Contained in this Notice
The reason for the revocation of Exemption # 25 is as follows:
? An amendment to the Rules will come into force on
8 July 2005 that addresses the issues that originally required the granting of the temporary exemption. Accordingly, the Commission considers that the exemption is no longer required.
Date Upon Which the Revocation of Exemption
Becomes Effective
The date upon which the revocation of exemption contained in this notice takes effect, being a date which is not earlier than the date of the New Zealand Gazette notice in respect of the variation of exemption, is 8 July 2005.
