Amendment to Prior Notice Specifying a Medical Practitioner Who May Prescribe, Administer or Supply Controlled Drugs for the Purpose of Treating People With Drug Dependence

Pursuant to sections 24 (7) (a) and 24 (8) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, I, David George Chaplow, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, amend
the notice signed by me on 22 December 2003 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 8 January 2004, page 40, by deleting the words
"section 24 (5) (a)"
and replacing them with the words
"section 24 (7) (a)"
thereby validating the authority for Dr William Lloyd Sheldon to prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the purposes of that section.
Dated at Wellington this 28th day of January 2004.
DR DAVID CHAPLOW, Director of Mental Health.

Explanatory Note
The notice that appeared in the New Zealand Gazette,
8 January 2004, specifying Dr William Lloyd Sheldon as
a medical practitioner who may prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the purpose of treating people with drug dependence referred to section 24 (5) (a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 as being that section which gives the Minister of Health, or those delegated by her, the
power to specify medical practitioners in this way. This was incorrect as it is section 24 (7) (a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 which gives this power.
