Pursuant to section 60 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries, after consultation with representative organisations and after consideration of the matters specified in section 60 (3) of the Fisheries Act 1996, hereby gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice 2004.
(2) This notice shall come into effect on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Interpretation-In this notice, the "Ngai Tahu Seafood Group" means Ngai Tahu Seafood Resources Limited, Ngai Tahu Seafood Products Limited and Ngai Tahu Fisheries Limited and any companies owned or controlled by those companies.
3. Exemption to quota aggregation limit-As from the date that this notice comes into effect, the Ngai Tahu Seafood Group is permitted to own quota shares in excess of the 10,000,000 quota shares aggregation limit for rock lobster in quota management area 9 as specified in section 59 (b) of the Fisheries Act 1996, up to a limit of 10,993,873 quota shares of rock lobster in quota management area 9.
