1. Pursuant to section 172I of the Electricity Act 1992, I notify the making of the Electricity Governance Amendment Rules (No. 5) 2004 ("the rules").
2. The empowering provisions for the electricity governance regulations in relation to which the rules are made are sections 172D (2) (a), (b) and (e) of the Electricity Act 1992.
3. A brief description of the nature of the amendment follows:
This amendment is to update the rules relating to properly given dispatch instructions for the dispatch of generator reactive power and generators maintaining voltage.
4. The amendments are made in reliance on the urgency provisions in section 172E (3) of the Electricity Act 1992.
5. These rules come into force on 2 September 2004.
6. Copies of the rules may be inspected free of charge
or purchased from the Electricity Governance Board
