Notice of Proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass

In accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of his intention to make a rule concerning vehicle dimensions and mass, and advises that the proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass is available for public comment.
This draft legislation proposes dimension and mass limits
to contribute towards the safe operation of vehicles on
New Zealand's roads.
The LTSA is also making available for public comment an issues paper on Transit New Zealand Proposals for Higher Mass and Dimension Limits.
This paper contains details of a submission on mass and dimension limits for heavy vehicles that has been made by Transit New Zealand.
A copy of the draft rule and of the issues paper may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the LTSA website at www.ltsa.govt.nz/legislation/sub.html
The draft rule and issues paper are also available for viewing at the LTSA's 7 regional offices.
Copies of both documents have been made available to groups and individuals who have expressed an interest in the rule.

3 September 2001.
