Fisheries (Notification of Mätaitai Reserve and Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki) Notice 2000 (No. F168)

Pursuant to Regulation 22 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the chief executive of the Ministry of Fisheries hereby gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Notification of Mätaitai Reserve and Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki) Notice 2000.
(2) This notice shall come into effect on 15 December 2000.
2. Interpretation-In this notice:
(a) The term "mätaitai reserve" has the same meaning as defined in the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999.
(b) Any reference to "Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki" means any person or persons appointed as Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mätaitai reserve under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999.
(c) Any reference to area/rohe moana means the
area encompassing those waters in Koukourärata (Port-Levy) Harbour that lie south of a straight line drawn from Te Piaka/Adderley Head (at 43?36.36?S and 172?49.66?E) to Akeake/Baleine Point (at 43?36.33?S and 172?51.19?E).
3. Notification of a mätaitai reserve-The Minister of Fisheries declared the area/rohe moana at Koukourärata
(Port Levy), Banks Peninsula, a mätaitai reserve by notice in the New Zealand Gazette dated 14 December 2000.
4. Appointment of Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki-The Minister of Fisheries in an instrument dated 12 December 2000 appointed Joe Sour and Tim Manawatu as Tängata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for managing customary food gathering for the area/rohe moana.
The appointment is for a term of 5 years commencing the day that this notice comes into effect.
