Notification of Approved Identification System for Bovine Tuberculosis Control-Notice No. 1172

Pursuant to section 50 (5) of the Biosecurity Act 1993 and Regulation 8 of the Biosecurity (Animal Identification Systems) Regulations 1999, I give notice that:
1. The MINDA identification system was approved by Derek Belton, Chief Technical Officer, on 6 October 2000 for the identification of cattle, deer and goats.
2. The MINDA identification system approved on
6 October 2000 may be used to comply with
the Biosecurity (Animal Identification Systems) Regulations 1999, with respect to the identification of cattle and deer for the purpose of controlling bovine tuberculosis.
3. I hereby revoke the approval of the MINDA identification system dated 3 June 1999 and notified in notice No. 1126 (030 A67) published in the New Zealand Gazette, 10 June 1999, No. 67, page 1542.

This notice updates the approval of the MINDA identification system in recognition of changes to that system. The MINDA identification system may be used for the identification of cattle and deer for the purpose of controlling bovine tuberculosis. The system is also approved for the voluntary identification of goats and has been approved by the Director-General of Conservation for the purposes of the Wild Animal Control Act 1977 in relation to the identification of deer and goats.
