Special Needs Grant Amendment (No 8)

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, the Minister of Social Services and Employment establishes and approves the following amendment to the Special Needs Grant welfare programme (as established and approved on 18 December 1998).

A m e n d m e n t
1. Title-(1) This is the Special Needs Grant Amendment (No 8).
(2) In this amendment, the Special Needs Grant Programme is called "the programme".
2. Commencement-This Direction comes into effect
on 1 July 2000.
3. Eligibility for Food Grant-Clause 11.2.1 of the programme is amended:
(a) by omitting the words ", after making an assessment as to whether clause 11.2.3 applies,";
(b) by omitting from paragraph (c) the words "food; and", and substituting the word "food.";
(c) by revoking paragraph (d).
4. Revoking provisions relating to budgeting advice-The programme is amended by revoking clauses 11.2.3 to 11.2.7, and substituting the following clause:
"11.2.3 Interpretation: For the purposes of clause 11.2.2, a reference to a grant under clause 11.2.1 in the form that it was before 1 October 1999.''

This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This amendment, which comes into effect on 1 July 2000, revokes the mandatory referral for budgeting advice provisions of the Special Needs Grant welfare programme.
