Direction in Relation to Special Benefit Amendment (No. 3) To: The Chief Executive, Department of Work and Income. Pursuant to section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Roger Morrison Sowry, Minister of Social Services, Work and Income, give you the following direction to take effect from the day after the date on which the direction is published in the Gazette. Dated this 15th day of November 1999. ROGER SOWRY, Minister of Social Services, Work and Income. Amendments I direct that the Direction In Relation To Special Benefit that I gave you on 10 February 1999 must, after this direction takes effect, be read as if the amendments specified in the Schedule were incorporated within it. Schedule Provision Amended Amendment Paragraph 2.1 By inserting in paragraph (a) of the definition of the term ``chargeable income'', immediately after the word ``benefit'', the words ``(other than an orphan's benefit or an unsupported child's benefit)''. Paragraph 2.1 By omitting paragraph (b) of the definition of the term ``chargeable income''. Explanatory Note This note is not part of the Direction but is intended to indicate its general effect. This Direction, made by the Minister of Social Services, Work and Income under section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964, amends the Direction In Relation To Special Benefit given by the Minister on 10 February 1999. The amendment removes orphans' benefits and unsupported children's benefits from being counted as chargeable income for the purposes of assessing eligibility for special benefit.
