Care Supplement Amendment Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Roger Morrison Sowry, Minister of Social Services, Work and Income, approve the following amendment to the Care Supplement welfare programme (as established and approved by me on 22 June 1999) to come into effect on the day after its publication in the Gazette. Care Supplement Clause 5.1 (a) of the programme is amended by omitting subparagraph (iii), and substituting the following subparagraph: (iii) Was discharged, on or after 1 July 1999, from the custody or guardianship of the Director-General under that Act into the care of the Former Foster Parent; and Explanatory Note This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to state its general effect. The amendment clarifies that a Care Supplement under the Care Supplement welfare programme may not be granted in respect of a child or young person discharged from the Director-General's care prior to 1 July 1999 (being the date the welfare programme came into effect). Youth Care Supplements granted under the previous Youth Care Supplement welfare programme continue to be payable and are unaffected by this amendment.
