Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of an exemption, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation. Schedule 99/EXE/18 CAR 47.101 (a) On 16 December 1998. To Ryan Syndicate, being the holder of the certificate of registration for Ryan Aeronautical Company STM-S2 aircraft, serial number 489, registration ZK-BEM, from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 47.101 (a) that each holder of a New Zealand certificate of registration shall ensure the aircraft bears a registration mark in the manner, and in accordance with, the specifications prescribed in 47.109 to 47.119 inclusive. 99/EXE/40 (1) CAR 61.801 (a) (3) On 22 December 1998. To each person from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 61.801 (a) (3) that the ground training course required to be completed by that person in order to be eligible for an instrument rating (Aeroplane) or (Helicopter) be conducted by the holder of an aviation training organisation certificate issued under Part 141. 99/EXE/40 (2) CAR 61.801 (a) (4) On 22 December 1998. To each person from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 61.801 (a) (4) that the flight training course of at least 10 hours dual instruction in the appropriate category of aircraft, required to be completed by that person in order to be eligible for an instrument rating (Aeroplane) or (Helicopter), be conducted by the holder of an aviation training organisation certificate issued under Part 141. 99/EXE/42 CAR 91.701 (b) On 22 December 1998. To each pilot of a glider from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 91.701 (b) that a pilot shall not operate an aircraft in aerobatic flight below a height of 3000 feet, only in respect of spin training or spin practice in a glider, provided that the pilot of a glider does not conduct spin training or spin practice below a height of 1000 feet above the surface. 99/EXE/43 CAR 91.509 (a) (15) On 16 December 1998. To each powered aircraft with an airworthiness certificate from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 91.509 (a) (15) that, subject to certain specified exceptions, each powered aircraft with an airworthiness certificate, except a powered glider, shall be equipped with a means of automatically recording and accumulating the time from each take-off until each landing. 99/EXE/44 CAR 119.169 (a) (1) (i) On 22 December 1998. To Air Nelson Limited, being the holder of an air service certificate issued under Regulation 136 of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1953, from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 119.169 (a) (1) (i) that in order for the holder of a valid air service certificate issued under regulation 136 of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1953 to continue to exercise the privileges of that certificate until its expiry without holding and complying with an air operator certificate issued under Part 119, the certificate holder must continue to comply with those requirements of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1953 that were in force and applicable to the certificate holder immediately before the commencement of Part 119. The exemption is granted only in respect of the requirement in Civil Aviation regulation 76 (4) that no operator shall carry out an IFR air transport operation unless all members of the flight crew have undergone a check, at which they have demonstrated to either an approved check pilot or an authorised person their technical knowledge, piloting competence, and ability to execute emergency procedures appropriate to the operation and the aircraft concerned during the period of 6 months prior to the flight. 97/EXE/37 CAR 91.611 (a) (1) On 24 December 1998. The director has withdrawn exemption 97/EXE/37 granted on 27 March 1997 to each person operating an aircraft under visual flight rules, requiring an altimeter system inspection in accordance with 91.611 (a), from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 91.611 (a) (1). The director has replaced 97/EXE/37 with 99/EXE/45. 99/EXE/45 CAR 91.611 (a) (1) On 24 December 1998. To each person operating an aircraft under visual flight rules from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 91.611 (a) (1) that the altimeter system test and inspection required to be conducted in accordance with Part 43, Appendix D be completed within the preceding 24 calendar months. Notice of the grant, withdrawal or denial of exemptions with provisos are published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL).
