Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi Under sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education, hereby gives the following notice: N o t i c e 1. This notice may be cited as the Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi. 2. This notice shall come into force on 1 January 1997. 3. I hereby establish in Ohakune a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi, and designate the school as a kura kaupapa Maori. 4. Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi: (i) Ki te ako i te reo Maori me ona tikanga i roto i te mita o Whanganui/Ngati Rangi. To nurture and to pursue all aspects of education through the dialect and traditions of Whanganui/Ngati Rangi. (ii) Kia u nga tamariki ki nga tikanga Maori, ki nga mahi Maori, me te ha Maori. To ensure that all children have a deep understanding and appreciation of all aspects of Maoritanga. (iii) Whaiatia atu ko te taumata o te matauranga. To encourage excellence of achievement at all levels of learning; to encourage each individual to realise his/her potential; to develop the self-esteem of each student; to monitor each child's progress and to provide meaningful programmes of learning throughout all curriculum areas that excite and challenge pupils to succeed. (iv) Ki te hapai i Te Aho Matua o nga Kura Kaupapa Maori. To adhere to the principles and philosophies of learning as expressed in Te Aho Matua. 5. Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ngati Rangi shall comprise: (a) Five people appointed by the Minister. (b) The principal, or principal designate.
