Temporary Exemption From Glazing Requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 Pursuant to regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicles Standards) Regulations 1990, I, John Andrew Justice, Manager Safer Vehicles, hereby exempt the vehicles listed in the first column of the Schedule to this exemption notice from compliance with the requirements of regulations 11, 26 (1) and 26 (5) of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 insofar as regulations 11, 26 (1) and 26 (5) require the glazing specified in respect of each such class of vehicle in the second column of the Schedule to allow any rate of light transmittance for that glazing in the second column of the Schedule provided: (a) that glazing is made of approved safety glass; and (b) the conditions specified in respect of the relative class of vehicle in the third column of the Schedule are satisfied. Schedule Classes of Vehicle Glazing Conditions MB, MC, MD and N Group. Any glazing directly behind or to the left or right of the rear of the driver's seat in its rearmost upright position. The vehicle must be fitted with external rear view mirrors on both sides that provide an adequate view of the road to the rear of the motor vehicle. This exemption will be revoked when the Land Transport Safety Authority's Glazing Rule becomes effective on the 1 January 1997. Dated at Wellington this 30th day of October 1996. J. A.
