Notice of Decision of Disciplinary Committee At a hearing held on 9 May 1995, the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants heard 3 charges against Geoffrey Charles Gray of Dunedin. The charges were that he had: (a) Been guilty of defaults discreditable to an accountant. (b) Conducted himself in such a manner as to render the exercise of the powers of the Disciplinary Committee expedient in the interests of the public and of the society. (c) Been guilty of unprofessional conduct. Geoffrey Charles Gray appeared before the Disciplinary Committee and pleaded guilty to the charges. After hearing submissions on behalf of the Investigation Committee and the member, the Disciplinary Committee, acting under section 24 (3) (a) of the New Zealand Society of Accountants Act 1958, ordered that the name of Geoffrey Charles Gray be removed from the Register of Members of the society and fixed the date of 9 May 1997, after which Geoffrey Charles Gray may apply for reregistration under this Act. The Disciplinary Committee also ordered that Geoffrey Charles Gray be censured. Geoffrey Charles Gray was also ordered to pay to the society the sum of $3,122.32 in respect of the costs and expenses relating to the inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee and the investigation by the Investigation Committee. The Disciplinary Committee ordered that its decision be published in the Chartered Accountant's Journal of New Zealand, the New Zealand Gazette and the Otago Daily Times newspaper with mention of the member's name and locality.
