Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Rakaumanga Pursuant to section 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice: N o t i c e 1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Rakaumanga. 2. This notice shall come into force on 12 September 1994. 3. I hereby designate Rakaumanga School as a Kura Kaupapa Maori. 4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Rakaumanga may be defined as promoting: (a) The acquisition of appropriate academic skills and knowledge which will allow students to succeed in later life experiences. (b) The acquisition of skills and knowledge through the medium of Te Reo Maori. (c) The retention and enhancement of the Waikato dialect, its kawa and tikanga. (d) A Maori and local perspective on knowledge and the world. (e) Community control and involvement in the school, and with the education of their children. (f) The provision of a teaching and learning environment. (g) The attainment of a high level of fluency of both Maori and English. 5. Constitution of the board of trustees. The board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Rakaumanga shall comprise: (a) seven elected parent representatives; (b) the principal of the school; (c) a staff representative; (d) six co-opted members.
