Notice of Payment into Victims’ Claims Trust Account

A compensation payment has been made to Dwayne Isaac Leonard in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).

The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Dwayne Isaac Leonard to make claims against it.

Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Dwayne Isaac Leonard.

On 17 December 2021, $13,566.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Dwayne Isaac Leonard.

The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Dwayne Isaac Leonard until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Any person who has been a victim of Dwayne Isaac Leonard, in respect of an offence for which Dwayne Isaac Leonard was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Dwayne Isaac Leonard.

Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
