Notice of Final Determinations to Alter and Assign Geographic Names

Pursuant to sections 19 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) gives notice of its final determinations to alter and assign the geographic names described in the Schedule below.

The Board’s final determinations on these geographic names took effect on 18 November 2021.

Official Geographic Name Geographic Feature Type and Description
Mount Makere A peak in the Darran Mountains near the north end of Fiordland National Park. Altered from Mount Mahere (recorded name) and altered position from NZTopo50-CB09 052455 to NZTopo50-CB09 053446.
Mount Milne A peak in the Darran Mountains near the north end of Fiordland National Park. Altered position from NZTopo50-CA09 056461 to NZTopo50-CB09 054458 and existing recorded name made official.
Mount Tarewai A peak in the Darran Mountains near the north end of Fiordland National Park. Altered position from NZTopo50-CB09 054458 to NZTopo50-CB09 052455 and existing recorded name made official.
Whaitiri A peak in the Darran Mountains near the north end of Fiordland National Park. Altered from Waitiri (recorded name) and altered position from NZTopo50-CB09 053446 to NZTopo-CB09 050434.
Waipaekākā A stream in Wellington, which flows south-eastwards along the northeast side of Te Ahumairangi Hill to Grosvenor Terrace, from where it is piped to the historic shoreline at the intersection of Tinakori Road and Thorndon Quay. NZTopo50-BQ31 490301. Assigned as official.
