Pursuant to clause 8(5) of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order (No 2) 2020 (“Order”), I, as the Director-General of Health, hereby designate the following examination or test for COVID-19 to be a COVID-19 test for the purposes of the Order:
- For persons arriving from a Very High Risk country (as set out in Schedule 3 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order (No 2) Order 2020):
- testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral ribonucleic acid using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
- For persons arriving from all other countries:
- testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral ribonucleic acid using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR); and
- testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral ribonucleic acid using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP); and
- testing for antigens specific to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (viral antigen testing).
This notice revokes and replaces the “Specification of Examination or Test for COVID-19—COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order (No 2) 2020” published in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 January 2021, Notice No. 2021-go128.
The notice will commence at 11.59pm (New Zealand time) on 3 May 2021.
