Notice of Application to Register a Trade Name Product (Notice No. MPI 1315)

Shaleen Narayan, Acting Manager Approvals, of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), acting under delegated authority from the Director-General of MPI, gives notice under section 14(1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (“Act”) that the following application has been made to register a trade name product under section 9(1) of the Act:

Active Ingredients and Concentrations:

Fixed combination flavoured chews for dogs (6 size variations) containing 12.5 [25] [50] [100] [200] [300]mg pyrantel (as embonate),3 [6] [12] [24] [48] [72]mg sarolaner, and 0.06 [0.12] [0.24] [0.48] [0.96] [1.44]mg moxidectin

Formulation Type: Tablet

General Use Claim:

For the treatment and control of fleas, ticks and gastrointestinal worms in dogs and puppies from 8 weeks of age. Rapidly kills fleas within 4 to 8 hours after treatment and is indicated for the treatment, control and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) infestations. Breaks the flea life cycle by killing adult fleas before they can lay eggs, therefore eliminating the risk of further environmental infestation. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). Treats and controls cattle ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis). Treats and controls hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala) and roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) including immature stages of A. caninum (L4, L5) and T. canis (L5). The product has persistent flea and tick killing activity for 5 weeks (35 days).

Administered at a dose of 1.2 – 2.4mg/kg sarolaner, 0.024 –0.048mg/kg moxidectin and 5 – 10mg/kg pyrantel (as embonate).

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general concerning this application.

Under sections 16 and 17 of the Act, a written submission:

  1. must state in full the reasons for making the submission;
  2. may state any decision sought on that application; and
  3. must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Under section 18 of the Act, a copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant for the applicant’s information.
