Pursuant to section 7 of the Social Security Act 2018, notice is given of the making of the following instrument by the Minister for Social Development:

This instrument, which comes into force on 30 March 2020, amends the Ministerial Direction on Redirection of Benefit Payments given on 17 March 2015 and made under the Social Security Act 1964 (and saved by Schedule 1 of the Social Security Act 2018). The amendment creates a presumption that there is good cause to redirect a person’s benefit in order to ensure they meet their commitments for receiving an emergency housing grant under the Special Needs Grants Programme.

The instrument is a disallowable instrument for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2012 and is administered by the Ministry for Social Development.
