Notice is hereby given of the making of an order amending the New Zealand Tariff, pursuant to sections 7A, 9 and 10 of the Tariff Act 1988, to align the Preferential Tariff rates for goods covered by the World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement with the Normal Tariff rate, when these goods become free of duty from 1 July 2019. The order also makes some minor technical corrections to the New Zealand Tariff.

1. Title of order

This order is the Tariff (Alignment of Duty Rates) Amendment Order 2019.

2 Commencement

The order will come into force on 1 July 2019.

3 Effect of order

This order amends the Tariff by removing those residual Preferential Tariff rates for goods covered by the Information Technology Agreement that continue to reduce beyond 1 July 2019, and replacing them with a duty rate of Free in alignment with the Normal Tariff.

On 1 July 2019 all goods covered by the Information Technology Agreement will be free of duty when imported into New Zealand.

The order also makes minor technical amendments to the New Zealand Tariff.
