Pursuant to sections 7 of the Social Security Act 2018, notice is given of the making of the following instrument by the Minister for Social Development.

This instrument, which comes into force on the day after the date on which it was given, amends the direction in relation to Special Benefit to exclude as a person’s chargeable income for a period of 12 months—

• any lump sum payment made as a Christchurch mosques attack support payment
• any income derived by the person from such a payment
• any lump sum payment received by a person on or after 1 April 2019 to correct an underpayment of their accommodation supplement because of a specified processing error between 1 April 2005 and the close of 31 March 2018 (inclusive)
• any income derived by the person from such a payment.

The instrument is a disallowable instrument for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2012.

The instrument is administered in the Ministry for Social Development.
