Take notice that, pursuant to part 2 (subpart 2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Shane Gardiner was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 21 November 2017, and the surplus was paid into the victims’ claims trust account on 23 November 2017 on behalf of Shane Gardiner to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

And that notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 February 2018, Notice No. 2018-go669, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin on 17 February 2018, and on the website of the Ministry of Justice on 12 February 2018, of the sum of money paid into the trust account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

Under sections 48(3) and 52(1) of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the trust account on behalf of Shane Gardiner.
