Notice of Application to Register a Trade Name Product (Notice No. MPI 803)

Maree Zinzley, Manager Approvals Operations, of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), acting under delegated authority from the Director-General of MPI, gives notice, under section 14(1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (“Act”), that the following application has been made to register a trade name product under section 9(1) of the Act:

Trade Name: Effipro Duo for Dogs

Reference: A11479-01

Active Ingredients and Concentrations:

Fipronil 67/134/268/402mg
Pyriproxyfen 20/40/80/120mg
For dogs 2–10/10–20/20–40/40–60kg

Formulation Type: Non-aqueous solution

General Use Claim:

One application treats and prevents infestation by fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) for 8 weeks and by ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis) for 4 weeks.

Prevents flea eggs from developing into adult fleas for 12 weeks.

Shampooing or immersing of the animal in water immediately after treatment may reduce the duration of activity. If the dog requires shampooing, it is better to do so before treatment.

Effipro Duo for Dogs remains effective against adult fleas for 6 weeks when the dog is shampooed at monthly intervals after treatment.

Shampooing up to twice will not reduce the duration for which Effipro Duo for Dogs prevents flea eggs from developing into adult fleas.

Immersion in water up to twice during the efficacy period does not reduce effectiveness against fleas.

Treats and controls Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) by eliminating fleas. To control FAD, apply monthly to the affected dog and treat all other dogs and cats in the household. Animals with severe FAD may require additional veterinary treatment.
