New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2017/14

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, and the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

Bylaw

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2017/14 and will come into force 28 days after the date of publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

  • Amending line 21 in Schedule 1 to read:

    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 60 at Motueka from 190m south of Courtney Street to 40m south of Old Wharf Road.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate for a maximum period of:
    1. 35 minutes before the start of school until the start of school;
    2. 20 minutes at the end of school, being no earlier than five minutes before the end of school,
    as specified in the New Zealand Gazette, 21 April 2011, No. 55, page 1284. When a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State highway displays the numerals “40”, the speed limit is 40km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 50km/h.

  • Inserting line 898AA in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 79 at Geraldine from a point 50m north of the intersection of State Highway 79 with Wright Street to a point 90m south of the intersection of State Highway 79 with Huffey Road.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate for a maximum period of:
    1. 35 minutes before the start of school until the start of school;
    2. 20 minutes at the end of school, being no earlier than five minutes before the end of school;
    3. 10 minutes at any other time when children cross the road or enter or leave vehicles at the roadside,
    as specified in the New Zealand Gazette, 21 April 2011, No. 55, page 1284. When a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State highway displays the numerals “40”, the speed limit is 40km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 50km/h.

3. Authority to make bylaw—This bylaw was made by the Senior Manager, Operational Policy, Planning and Performance, System Design and Delivery, under delegated authority of the NZ Transport Agency.
