New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2017/1

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, section 22AB of the Land Transport Act 1998 and the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

Bylaw

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2017/1 and will come into force on and from 23 March 2017.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

  • Amending line 78 in Schedule 1 to read:
    “Line No.: 78
    Region: 2
    SH No.: 16
    Locality: Grafton
    Section of State Highway: From 840m north-east of Grafton Bridge to 255m east of the St Lukes Road overbridge.
    Speed Restriction (km/h): 80

  • Inserting line 78A in Schedule 1 to read:
    “Line No.: 78A
    Region: 2
    SH No.: 16
    Locality: Great North Road Interchange
    Section of State Highway: From 255m east of the St Lukes Road overbridge to 880m west of the eastern abutment of the Rosebank Bridges, including all on-ramps and off-ramps connected to this section of State highway; and all ramps connecting State Highway 16 and State Highway 20.
    Speed Restriction (km/h): See Schedule 2

  • Amending line 103 in Schedule 1 to read:
    “Line No.: 103

    Locality: Waterview Tunnels
    Section of State Highway: From 30m south of the Dominion Road overbridge to the northern end of State Highway 20 at the Great North Road Interchange, including all on-ramps and off-ramps connected to this section of State highway; and all ramps connecting State Highway 20 and State Highway 16.
    Speed Restriction (km/h): See Schedule 2

  • Inserting a new line in Schedule 2 to read:

    Locality: Great North Road Interchange
    “Section of State highway: From 255m east of the St Lukes Road overbridge to 880m west of the eastern abutment of the Rosebank Bridges, including all on-ramps and off-ramps connected to this section of State highway; and all ramps connecting State Highway 16 and State Highway 20.
    Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80km/h applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is displayed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a speed limit sign is displayed, indicating that a different speed limit applies.
    The variable speed limit that applies is that indicated by the numerals displayed on the variable speed limit sign.
