Denatured Ethanol Group Standard (Amendment) (No. 3) Notice 2016

Pursuant to section 96B of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title—(1) This notice is the Denatured Ethanol Group Standard (Amendment) (No. 3) Notice 2016 and is part of the principal notice.

(2) In this notice:

principal notice means the Hazardous Substances (Group Standards) Notice 2006 (published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 30 June 2006, No. 74, page 1889).

Part 11 means the Denatured Ethanol Group Standard 2006, which is Part 11 of and begins at page 2073 of the principal notice, as amended by the Denatured Ethanol Group Standard (Amendment) (No. 2) Notice 2007 (published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 21 June 2007, No. 69, page 1821).

2. Commencement—This notice comes into force on the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. Amendment to Part 11—Inclusion of (j) in section 4, clause (4):

“(4)(j) 2% ethyl acetate and 0.1% isopropanol”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette, amends the Hazardous Substances (Group Standards) Notice 2006, Part 11: Denatured Ethanol Group Standard 2006 to add an additional formulation of the denatured ethanol permitted for sale to the general public, namely ethanol denatured with 2% ethyl acetate and 0.1% isopropanol.
