Redefining the Purpose of a Māori Reservation

Pursuant to section 338(5)(c) of Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993, on the recommendation of the Māori Land Court, the purpose of the land set aside as a Māori reservation by a notice dated the 18th day of July 1990 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 2 August 1990, No. 132, page 2743, is hereby redefined as follows:

“A Māori reservation for the purpose of a national marae and place of culture, community, education, justice, housing, social, health, tourism, arts and crafts, sport, and commercial activities that sustain and develop the national marae for the common use and benefit of the people of New Zealand. Ko te kaupapa o tēnei rauhītanga Māori hei marae-a-motu, hei tūāpapa mō ngā tikanga a iwi, mātauranga, ture, ngā whare noho tangata, pāpori, hauora, tāpoi, mahi toi, hākinakina, me ngā mahi pakihi kia whai hua kia pakari ai te marae-a-motu kia ora ai ngā tangata katoa o Aotearoa.”
