New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2015/4

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, section 22AB of the Land Transport Act 1989 and Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2015/4 and will come into force 28 days after the date of publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

  • Inserting new line 810B in Schedule 1 to read:
    Line No.: 810B

    SH No.: 1
    Locality: Kaiapoi to Belfast
    Section of State Highway: From 800m south of Ohoka Road overbridge to 120m north of Dickeys Road.
    Speed Limit (km/h): See Schedule 2
    New Zealand Gazette Reference: 19/11/2015, Notice No. 2015-au6678
  • Inserting new line in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State highway: The section of State Highway 1 between Kaiapoi and Belfast southbound on the Christchurch Northern Motorway from 800m south of the Ohoka Road overbridge to 120m north of Dickeys Road. The variable restriction may be imposed on part or all of this length in accordance with the signs displayed on each part, …
    Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 60km/h applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is displayed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a traffic sign, or a variable speed sign, indicating that a different speed limit applies is installed.
    The speed limit that applies is 60km/h when displayed on the variable speed limit sign, or 100km/h, if the variable speed limit sign is blank.”

3. Authority to make bylaw—This bylaw was made by the Chief Advisor (Technical Services), Highways and Network Operations, under delegated authority of the NZ Transport Agency.
