Notice of Proposals to Assign, Alter or Discontinue Geographic Names

Pursuant to sections 16(2) and 16(3) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("Act"), the New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of proposals to assign, alter or discontinue existing geographic names.
The First Schedule to this notice specifies the details of the proposed assigned or altered geographic names; their geographic feature types; their descriptions; and the date by which submissions must be received.
The Second Schedule to this notice specifies the details of the proposed discontinued geographic name; its geographic feature type; its description; and the date by which submissions must be received.
Submissions on proposed assigned, altered or discontinued geographic names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145, or email: nzgbsubmissions@linz.govt.nz, or website: www.linz.govt.nz/placenames/consultation/index.aspx
In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.
