Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.
1. I hereby approve Advance Training Centres Limited to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.
2. The name of the sponsor's school is Vanguard Military School.
3. The sponsor's school will be located in Albany.
4. The Vanguard Military School will be a co-educational secondary school.
5. Education at the Vanguard Military School may be given for Years 11-13.
6. The establishment of the Vanguard Military School is to be phased in over two years. For the 2014 year, the Vanguard Military School will enrol students in Years 11-12. From the 2015 year, the Vanguard Military School will enrol students in class levels 11-13. None of the class levels at the Vanguard Military School will be single sex.
7. Vanguard Military School will operate with the following aim, purpose and objective:
- The school utilises the ethos and training methodology of the military in order to achieve, especially for students/recruits from disadvantaged backgrounds, attitudinal and academic excellence that facilitates multiple exit points into a broad range of further training or employment options.
8. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
