Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.
1. I hereby approve Rise UP Trust to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.
2. The name of the sponsor's school is The Rise UP Academy.
3. The sponsor's school will be located in Mangere East.
4. The Rise UP Academy will be a co-educational primary school.
5. Education at The Rise UP Academy may be given for Years 1-6.
6. None of the class levels at The Rise UP Academy will be single sex.
7. The Rise UP Academy will operate with the following aims, purposes and objectives:
- To operate based on a Christian ethos.
- To develop students to have a:
(a) sharp mind - a critical and caring thinker, problem solver and lifelong learner;
(b) strong body - actively involved in physical activity developing a healthy physique and a positive role model to others; and
(c) caring heart - happy and respectful, able to relate to others, a motivated, humble and resilient team player.
- To support whanau to be:
(a) inclusive and coherent - whanau engage
more with The Rise UP Academy, and are more willing to seek the support they need to foster their children's learning and development;
(b) high in expectations - whanau will have broadened aspirations, with flourishing women and positive male role models;
(c) learning to learn and future focused - parents are engaged in their children's learning; and
(d) engaged in their community - whanau have increased positive engagement with each other and the community.
8. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
