Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 ("HSNO Act"), the Environmental Protection Authority gives notice it intends to apply for approval of the code of practice HSNOCOP 63 Management and handling of used oil.
This code specifies the requirements for the storage and handling of used oil.
The code sets a means of compliance with:
- the Lubricants (Toxic) Group Standard 2006;
- the Lubricants (Combustible Toxic) Group Standard 2006; and
- the controls on the approvals under part 5 of the HSNO Act for fuel oil manufactured from waste lubricating
oil - HSNO approval number HSR001522 and
non-flammable fuel oil manufactured from waste lubricating oil - HSNO approval number HSR100772.
