Notice of Intention to Apply for Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances
and New Organisms Act 1996 (“the HSNO Act”), the Environmental Risk Management Authority gives notice that MotorSport New Zealand intends to apply for the approval of the Code of Practice for Motor Sport Fuel – Storage and Handling.
This code specifies requirements for the storage and handling of fuels at motor sport venues in New Zealand.
The specific purpose of this publication is to help the person in charge of a motorsport venue or event to obtain the test certificate(s) required by the HSNO Act and to act in compliance with the Regulations made under the HSNO Act.
This code sets out the compliance requirements of:
? Schedules 6 and 10 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 (as amended).
? Part 4 of the Hazardous Substances (Emergency Management) Regulations 2001.
This code also provides guidance on how the legal obligations relating to the storage and handling of fuels at motor sport events can be met for the Hazardous Substances (Classes 1 to 5 Controls) Regulations 2001.
