Notice of Revocation of a Controlled Area Notice*

Background
By notice dated the 19th day of September 2003, the area listed in Schedule 1 of this notice was declared to be a controlled area under section 131 (2) of the Biosecurity Act 1993 (“the Act”) for the purpose of limiting the spread of varroa mite (Varroa destructor). This area is referred to as the “Controlled Area”.
Under section 131 (3) of the Act, that notice imposed controls on the movement of certain things, within or out of the Controlled Area.
Revocation of Notice
NOW under section 131 (4) of the Act, I, Peter Scott Thomson, Chief Technical Officer, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE THAT I REVOKE the notice dated 19 September 2003 declaring that the area listed in Schedule 1 of this notice is
a controlled area under section 131 of the Act.
For the avoidance of doubt, this notice also revokes all controls on the movement of certain things, within or out of the Controlled Area, imposed by the notice of 19 September 2003.
Commencement—This notice takes effect at 12.00 midnight on and from 30 June 2005.
Schedule 1 – Controlled Area
All parts of New Zealand that fall within the boundaries of the local government regions of Northland, Auckland (except Great Barrier Island), Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Wanganui and Wellington.
