Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on

State Highways in Transit New Zealand
Regions 13 and 14
Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989 and section 72 (1) (j) of the Transport Act 1962, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw.

1. Title and commencement-This bylaw may be cited
as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 2003/11 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Interpretation-In this bylaw:
"vehicle" has the same meaning as in the Transport Act 1962.
3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State highways-No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken
any vehicle:
(a) at a speed exceeding 30 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the First Schedule to this bylaw; or
(b) at a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Second Schedule to this bylaw; or
(c) at a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Third Schedule to this bylaw.
First Schedule
4. The section of State Highway No. 94 at Milford Sound/
Piopiotahi, from a point 50 metres generally east of the access road to the airport and extending 900 metres generally north to the end of the State highway (Route Position 241/16.50 to Route Position 241/17.40); a distance of 900 metres.
Second Schedule
5. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is:
(a) At Hampden, from a point 180 metres generally north of Monmouth Street to a point 30 metres generally south of Nottingham Street (Route Position 618/7.54 to Route Position 618/8.47); a distance of 930 metres.
(b) At Dunedin, from a point at the junction of Cumberland Street (State Highway No. 1) and Water Street to a point at the junction at the junction of Andersons Bay Road (State Highway No. 1) with the Caversham Bypass Motorway (State Highway No. 1) (Route Position 706/0.64 to Route Position 707/0.00); a distance of 1.1 kilometres.
6. The section of State Highway No. 6 at Frankton, from a point 370 metres generally east of its junction with Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point 150 metres generally south of its junction with Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) (Route Position 983/11.55 to Route Position 996/0.15); a distance of 520 metres.
7. The section of State Highway No. 6A at Frankton, from its junction with Kawarau Road (State Highway No. 6) to a point 150 metres generally west of Marina Drive (Route Position 0/0.00 to Route Position 0/1.32); a distance of 1.32 kilometres.

8. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is:
(a) At Hampden, from a point 50 metres generally north of Lancaster Street to a point 180 metres generally north of Monmouth Street (Route Position 618/7.06 to Route Position 618/7.54); a distance of 480 metres.
(b) At Hampden, from a point 30 metres generally south of Nottingham Street to a point 200 metres generally south of Oakham Street (Route Position 618/8.47 to Route Position 618/9.01); a distance of 540 metres.
(c) At Pukerau, from a point 400 metres generally east of Kaiwera Road to a point 50 metres generally
west of West Street (Route Position 842/2.03 to Route Position 842/3.37); a distance of 1.34 kilometres.
(d) At Edendale, from a point 50 metres generally north of Crescent Road to a point 300 metres generally north of Ferry Road (Route Position 872/12.12 to Route Position 872/12.89); a distance of 770 metres.
(e) At Woodlands, from a point 30 metres generally north-east of Grove Bush-Woodlands Road to a point 30 metres south-west of Woodlands Cemetery Road (Route Position 902/3.33 to Route Position 902/3.94); a distance of 610 metres.
9. The section of State Highway No. 6 that is:
(a) At Frankton, from a point 100 metres generally east of Glenda Drive to a point 370 metres generally
east of Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) (Route Position 983/10.22 to Route Position 983/11.55); a distance of 1.33 kilometres.
(b) At Frankton, from a point 150 metres generally south from its junction with Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point 170 metres generally south of Peninsula Road (Route Position 996/0.15
to Route Position 996/2.55); a distance of 2.4 kilometres.
(c) At Kingston, from a point 30 metres generally south of Glen Nevis South Road to a point 360 metres generally south of Kent Street (Route Position 1024/10.86 to Route Position 1024/11.62); a distance of 760 metres.
(d) At Athol, from a point 30 metres generally east of Albion Street to a point 370 metres generally west
of Clyde Street (Route Position 1061/2.97 to Route Position 1061/3.79); a distance of 820 metres.
(e) At Invercargill, from a point 250 metres generally north of Flora Road in Makarewa to a point 200 metres generally north of West Plains Road (Route Position 1157/8.52 to Route Position 1168/2.49);
a distance of 4.40 kilometres.
10. The section of State Highway No. 6A between Frankton and Queenstown, from a point 150 metres generally west of Marina Drive to a point 660 metres generally east of Suburb Street (Route Position 0/1.32 to Route Position 0/4.89);
a distance of 3.57 kilometres.
11. The section of State Highway No. 8 that is:
(a) At Tarras, from a point 140 metres generally north-east of Munroes Lane to a point 40 metres generally south-west of Jolly Road (Route Position 247/17.36 to Route Position 247/17.84); a distance of 480 metres.
(b) At Roxburgh, from a point 870 metres generally south of Slaughterhouse Creek Bridge to a point
20 metres generally north of Edinburgh Street (Route Position 365/0.87 to Route Position 365/1.97); a distance of 1.1 kilometres.
(c) At Roxburgh, from a point 140 metres generally south of Smith Street to a point 1.14 kilometres generally south of Smith Street (Route Position 365/3.86 to Route Position 370/0.01); a distance of
1 kilometre.
