Amendment No. 2 to the advice notice to general practitioners concerning patient benefits and other subsidies

Amendment No. 2 to the Advice Notice to General Practitioners Concerning Patient Benefits and Other Subsidies Pursuant to section 88 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000, issued by the Director-General of Health as an agent of all District Health Boards: Amendment No. 2 to the Advice Notice to General Practitioners Concerning Patient Benefits and Other Subsidies (a notice originally given under section 51 of the Health and Disability Services Act 1993), issued under section 88 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000. N o t i c e 1. Background-From 1 May 2000, the former Health Funding Authority made payments to general practitioners pursuant to a notice issued under section 51 of the Health and Disability Services Act 1993 ("the principal notice"). The principal notice set out the terms and conditions on which the Health Funding Authority would make payment to practitioners for their services. When the Health and Disability Services Act 1993 was repealed, the principal notice was continued as a section 88 notice under section 112 (3) of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000. The Ministry of Health's obligations were transferred under the principal notice to District Health Boards by means of the Health Sector Transfers (Provider Arrangements) Order 2001 (SR 2001/135). The Director-General of Health, acting as agent of the District Health Boards, with the written approval of the Minister of Health, issues this amendment to the principal notice. 2. Commencement-This notice comes into force on 1 July 2002. 3. Amendment to Schedule 2, Appendix 1-Appendix 1 of Schedule 2 of the principal notice is amended as follows: Omit 1. Child, under 6 years of age 32.50 5. Six week check of baby 32.50 Substitute 1. Child, under 6 years of age 35.00 5. Six week check of baby 35.00 Explanatory Note This notice, which comes into force on 1 July 2002, amends a notice given under section 51 of the Health and Disability Act 1993 entitled "Advice Notice to General Practitioners Concerning Patient Benefits and Other Subsidies" ("the principal notice") which came into force on 1 May 2000. The principal notice was deemed by section 112 (3) of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 to continue in force as if it had been given by the Crown under section 88 of that Act. Responsibility for the principal notice was transferred to District Health Boards under section 5 of the Health Sector (Transfers) Act 1993 by the Health Sector Transfers (Provider Arrangements) Order 2001 (SR 2001/135). Accordingly, this notice is given under section 88 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 by the Director-General of Health who has been appointed as agent of all District Health Boards for the purpose of giving this notice. The effect of this notice is to increase the General Medical Services subsidy for consultations for general medical services for children under 6 years of age who are eligible persons from $32.50 (including G.S.T.) to $35.00 (including G.S.T.).
