Notice Permitting Certain Actions in Relation to the Rainbow Lorikeet for Purposes of Sections 52 and 53 of Biosecurity Act 1993 In this notice ``Rainbow Lorikeet'' means the avian species (Trichoglossus haematodus), being an unwanted organism under the Biosecurity Act: ``Feral Rainbow Lorikeet'' means a Rainbow Lorikeet existing in a wild state, including eggs or offspring; or is not confined in an aviary, cage or dwelling in New Zealand. ``Captive Rainbow Lorikeet'' means a Rainbow Lorikeet that is owned by any person, and is held in secure confinement in an aviary, cage or dwelling. 1. Pursuant to section 53 (2) of the Biosecurity Act 1993 (as amended by the Biosecurity Amendment Act 1997),I give notice that I permit all persons who own or are in charge of Rainbow Lorikeet to (a) Keep or breed Rainbow Lorikeet for the purposes of retaining as Captive Rainbow Lorikeet; and (b) Sell or offer for sale or exhibit Rainbow Lorikeet for the purposes of retaining as Captive Rainbow Lorikeet. The permissions given by this notice is given for the purposes of section 53 of the Biosecurity Act only, and does not constitute an exemption from the requirements of any other relevant legislation.
